Father’s Day – the 3rd Sunday in June set aside to honor fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father-figures in our lives. Father’s day was first proposed by Mrs. John B. Dodd in 1909 because she wanted to honor her father, William Smart, who alone raised her and her 5 siblings after her mother died in childbirth with her 6th child. The first Father’s Day was observed June 19, 1910. President Lyndon Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation honoring fathers in 1966, proclaiming the 3rd
Sunday in June as Father’s Day. It was made a permanent holiday when President Richard Nixon signed it into law in 1972.

To honor you Father this year, why not skip the necktie and cologne, and give him special in-home spa treatments. His skin will feel and look younger with de-stress massage oil, skin scrub, musclease active body concentrate, and much more! Your dad will love you even more for it!  Happy Father’s Day to all the men in your life!

Symptoms of Rosacea

If you find that your face is constantly infused with a red hue, you might attribute it to any number of things. You might think you’re particularly sensitive to drinking, or you might think you’re just prone to becoming overheated. Whatever you think the cause of the redness might be, there is the possibility that it’s actually a chronic condition marked by what is known as facial erythema. Erythema is more commonly known as redness of the skin.

This chronic condition is known as rosacea. Outside of facial redness, the condition can also include pimples and red eyes. In certain extreme cases, it also causes a stinging or burning sensation on the face. Unless you’re dealing with this more severe form of the condition, rosacea is basically a cosmetic issue. There are several topical treatments and medications that can work to reduce the inflammation and the appearance of redness.

Allergic Reactions to Beauty Products

posted by BuyingBeauty @ 11:45 AM
February 10, 2010

When it comes to beauty products, it becomes particularly important that users are conscious of what the products contain. When people use beauty products that contain unnatural or artificial products, they can react in unexpected ways. Some people are simply allergic to many of these beauty additives, and it can result in everything from swelling to red splotches. If these products are meant for the face, it can be embarrassing having to spend a day or longer with these noticeable reactions.

For that reason, always look into organic beauty products. People are much less likely to have a negative reaction if the product uses only natural ingredients. And for those that are particularly sensitive, a reaction will almost always be less severe and last for a shorter duration of time. If you know you’re susceptible to allergic reactions, always make sure to test a new product on the inside of your wrist. If you have a reaction, it will be on a small section of skin which you can easily cover.

lemonKnown universally as a bright and sunny bitter fruit, lemon is a member of the citrus family along with orange, lime, grapefruit and tangerine. Prized for its acidic quality, lemon has long been a household staple and the lemon’s fragrant essential oil (found in the rind) can be used for cooking, perfumery, cleaning, cosmetics and even healing.

Lemon has many cosmetic uses and can be found in a remarkably large number of beauty products, especially glycolic acid treatments. Containing up to 8 % citric acid, lemon is a potent source of natural glycolic acid, along with apples, grapes, sugar cane and milk, making it an ideal chemical exfoliant and skin smoother.

Skincare Solutions That Work!

anti-aging1Who wouldn’t like to have more youthful and vibrant skin? It’s an issue that affects millions of women around the world, and given the hundreds of manufacturers of skincare products, it’s difficult to know what works and what doesn’t. Despite disparities in image and perceived effectiveness, a lot of skincare products contain the same ingredients. For example, anti-aging skin care products will most likely contain simple ingredients like lavender, German chamomile, wheat germ, jojoba, olive oil, and grape seed. These ingredients are proven to moisturize and enrich your skin with essential vitamins it needs to appear healthy.

Most skin care products contain a combination of natural ingredients, however you do want to avoid products that contain an excess amount of chemicals. Though skin care products containing chemicals are designed to help, they can cause unsightly rashes and aggravate your skin. It’s always best to opt for the natural solution.

What to Do About that Oily Skin

skin-care

If you find that you have severely oily skin and you’re using the top skin care products, you might want to consider that your diet is throwing something off. Here are some dietary tips to follow:

~Eat foods that are high in B vitamins: A slight B-vitamin deficiency can cause oily skin, so eat a diet rich in whole grains, legumes, nuts, and organ meats. Or you can take one to two tablespoons of brewer’s yeast a day, which is also good for your immune system and eczema.

~Go vegetarian: Just as those suffering from dry skin should eat more fats, those suffering from oily skin should consume fewer fats. You can do this by simply upping the veggies and grains and cutting meat from your diet two or three days a week. Have two vegetables with a meal (salad and broccoli, or squash and asparagus) and instead of making a pasta-dish with ground hamburger, try making it with black beans. These are easy ways to cut down the amount of fat you consume to keep your skin from overproducing oil, but it’s equally important to stock up on quality products that will sop up the oil and refine your pores.

Tanning Beds: Beneficial or Detrimental?

posted by BuyingBeauty @ 11:11 AM
December 14, 2009

tanningThe effects of tanning beds have long since been under debate, and the questions only increase with the growing number of beds emerging throughout the world: Are they safe? Do they increase the body’s production of vitamin D? Can overuse be linked to some forms of cancer?

People will disagree over some of these questions, but the bottom line is that overexposure to ultraviolet radiation – the type that tanning beds give off – is inherently harmful. They can damage skin cells and alter DNA structure, which can cause cancer and melanoma. The highest-risk group is women between the ages of 20 and 29, but everyone is equally susceptible. It’s recommended by the American Academy of Dermatology that regular users of tanning beds also use a healthy array of skin care products, such as anti-aging cream. Furthermore, the FDA and World Health Organization have denounced the use of tanning beds, citing cosmetic reasons as the basis for their claims.

That’s not to say tanning beds are solely bad news. Health benefits of regular use can include the reduction of muscle weakness and increase the body’s production of vitamin D. This can be especially beneficial for people who live in areas that don’t see as much sun throughout the year as others. Like everything else in life, moderation is the key when using tanning beds.

The Key to Blending Eye Shadow

Cosmetic applicator

Of all the makeup women might apply, eye shadow is perhaps the most difficult to get just right. While a well-blended eye shadow job can turn a merely attractive woman into a virtual goddess, the results are occasionally gruesome. Today, we’ll look at the basics of eye shadow application. First of all, note that you’ll be working with three colors that need to be blended. There’s the base – normally a brownish gray color – a highlighter color for the crease and a main color for the lid.

The key to blending is to make the colors look like they flow naturally into each other. Clashing colors are a recipe for disaster, and bad blending can sometimes create a murky mess. Try keeping in mind a credo like this: Start light and go darker. The base color naturally comes first, but try applying the lid color next and finishing with the highlighter. Don’t be afraid to try and fail several times until you get it just right. These and other makeup beauty tips can transform you into a true glamour queen.

Act Your Age, Don’t Look It

antiFor better or worse, our society is obsessed with the appearance of youth. The vim, vigor and vitality inherent to young people is a quality that even aging individuals attempt to capture. There are numerous ways to reverse the natural aging process, and exercise is easily one of the most effective. Just look at what Madonna and Demi Moore have accomplished over the past few years – completely reinventing themselves as youthful, confident women who just so happen to be getting on in years.

Of course exercise is useful for keeping one’s body svelte and young looking, but it does nothing to address the problem of wrinkles. Our laugh lines and crow’s feet aren’t just going to disappear on their own, and that’s why so many people swear by anti-aging skin care products. These creams can reduce the depth of wrinkles while adding healthy moisture to the face in general.
